Thou Art Weighed

Measured on God's scale

“Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.”
Daniel 5:27 KJV

Opening thought

One of the tools used in business and in some industries is the weighing balance. This tool measures the mass, or the total quantity, of what an object contains. For some items there is always a given threshold according to industrial standards. Any object that weighs below the standard is considered defective.

The devotional message

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

God is our Creator and the Ultimate Designer. He fashioned us in such a way that there is no other creation like us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. So it is very important to note that you are unique and the best of all God's creations.

Weighed on God's Scale

However, there is more. God weighs us and measures us. He already knows our measure.

Here, we read in the Scripture that the king was told, "Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting." This means that this king was already below God's threshold and had been disqualified by God.

Are you found wanting on God's scale? Will you be among the condemned? Examine yourself today.

Closing prayer

Lord God, my Creator and Designer, thank You for making me fearfully and wonderfully. You see me as I truly am, and nothing is hidden from You. Weigh my heart today. Where I fall short, show me, and lead me to repentance through Jesus Christ. Let me not be found wanting in Your sight. In Jesus' name, amen.
